These groups are aimed at campaigning, raising awareness and bringing people together. They’re free to join and all students are automatically members if they self-define themselves as being eligible.

 

Birmingham Ethnic Minority Association (BEMA)

An association that represents the interests of ethnic minority students at Birmingham University. They plan and hold events in the name of ethnic minority students, for example black history month. They try to raise awareness about the issues that continue to effect students of ethnic minority backgrounds.

 Disabled and Mental Health Association (DAMSA)      

For students who consider themselves to have a disability, to campaign to raise awareness of issues and bring people together.

Home Students Association

To represent students living at home, this group works closely with FOCsoc (Freshers Off Campus) to provide a range of events and campaign for any issues that arise.

Interfaith Association

An association that aims to bring people of different faiths together to increase understanding and cooperation.

A group acting on behalf of all international students, contact them with any issues or suggestions, particularly if there isn’t another group covering you.

Postgraduate Students Association

The group that represents all postgraduates and mature students at the University and to campaign to ensure that the needs of their constituents are met. They also organise events to bring people together.

A support network for any student parents and carers at the University.

Women’s Association

The Womens group exists to represent the needs of all female students at the University. Among their priorities are raising awareness and support for gender gap issues, representation if our members (if you're a female student at Bham that's YOU) feel mistreated at the University or anywhere else, and they also have socials and talks and fundraisers for charities which target women's issues.
