Welfare Wednesdays
Welfare Wednesdays are our way of making sure you look after yourself!
Every other Wednesday the Guild will be spotlighting a different topic, to ensure you have all the information you need to have a smooth and enjoyable university life.
Your wellbeing is important and it’s sometimes easy to forget that everything you do can contribute to the way you feel. Your workload, eating habits, activity levels, and what you do in your spare time can all have an effect on your wellbeing and general outlook on life.
Welfare Wednesdays are designed to offer you simple ways to look after your wellbeing, whether that’s reducing your chances of getting burgled and keeping you safe on the streets, to having a healthy lifestyle, improving your finances and much more.
Keep your eyes peeled and get involved with the workshops and events happening across the year.
1 in 4 people suffer from mental health problems. This is a fact you have probably heard before, but what does this mean? It means 1 in 4 of us will experience mental ill health at some point in our lives. This figure though is based on those individuals who have come forward for support or been formally diagnosed. So if all those people who feel they can’t come forward to receive support because of stigmas did step forward we would probably be looking at a higher number. Women are more likely to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder than men but this isn’t a women’s issue. The 1 in 4 applies for all genders, race and age, so the fact above goes to highlight the stigma surrounding men and mental health is still in existence as well as many stigmas around mental health disorders.
