Postgraduate Student Trustee 

Open to all fully registered student currently studying for postgraduate degree at the University of Birmingham. Ideally you would be a postgraduate student until at least July 2023, however we will consider suitable applications from all students which fit the criteria.

 

Would you like to become a Director of a multi-million pound charity, helping us to make big decisions about the future of the Guild of Students? If so, we’re looking for a three Students to sit on the Guild’s Trustee Board. We specifically welcome applications from students of colour. Could this be the role for you?

About the Guild

The University Of Birmingham Guild Of Students is a charity and the students’ union for more than 37,000 students. We represent our members to the University and other organisations on the issues that matter to students most. We also exist to help students develop skills outside of study, have fun, meet people and make sure their time at Birmingham is special. The Guild has a long and varied history as a cornerstone of the University.

About the Trustee Board

Our charity Trustee Board is ultimately responsible for making the big decisions about the running of the Guild. The Board is comprised of 18 people including Guild Officers, University representatives, industry professionals and fellow students – all of whom bring different types of experience and expertise to the role. The Student Trustee roles are:

1. Undergraduate Student Trustee (open for applications)
2. Postgraduate Student Trustee (open for applications)
3. International Student Trustee (open for applications)
4. BAME Student Trustee.

About the Role

The Guild is on a mission to increase the diversity of our representatives, we especially welcome applications from students of colour and those who identify as disabled, although all students are welcome to apply.

Being a Trustee is a voluntary role and involves attending 6 Trustee Board meetings each year, plus some preparation time before each one. Our Trustees are an incredibly important part of our governance and play an integral role in the continued running and development of the Guild. Ideally the successful candidate will graduate in July 2023 or later, however we will consider suitable applications from all students which fit the criteria.
