The festive season is here, and we’re bringing you an evening packed with holiday cheer! Join the Student Exchange Society as we visit the magical Frankfurt Christmas Market, and enjoy a sparkling ice-skating session at Centenary Square.
This event is perfect for anyone looking to soak up the Christmas spirit, enjoy Birmingham’s festive sights, and make memories with friends.
🎁 What’s in store?
Ice Skating Fun
We’ll kick off the evening by lacing up our skates for a magical ice-skating session at Centenary Square’s outdoor rink. Don’t worry if you’re new to skating—this is all about fun, laughter, and making memories with friends!
Festive Market Adventure
After skating, we’ll head to the heart of Birmingham city center to explore the famous Frankfurt Christmas Market—a wonderland of twinkling lights, German treats, and charming stalls. Sip on hot chocolate (or mulled wine if you fancy!), enjoy some delicious snacks, and pick up unique gifts for your loved ones.
🧤 What to Bring:
- Your student ID and event ticket (essential for entry).
- Warm clothes (gloves, scarves, and a cozy coat are highly recommended).
- Comfortable shoes for walking around the market.

🎟 Ticket Prices:
Please purchase a ticket if you'd like to ice skate with us. Entry is free if you only wish to attend the fair.
Members: £10.50
Non-Members: £13.65
Spaces for ice skating are limited, so get them quickly!
Travel Information:
- Please meet us at Selly Oak Station (by the vending machine) at 4:45 pm.
- We will catch the 17:02 train, which arrives at New Street by 17:12. From there, it’s a 13-minute walk to the rink, getting us there by around 5:30 PM, ready for the 6:00 PM skating session.
- Alternatively, if you prefer to take the train from University Station or meet us directly at the ice skating rink, that’s absolutely fine. However, please let us know in advance so we can decide whether to wait for you before entering the rink.

Anyone with any medical conditions, serious previous injuries, recently broken bones, knee or joint problems, head injuries, pregnancy, mobility problems, or taking prescribed drugs should carefully consider whether it is safe for them to participate without endangering themselves or other participants whilst skating.
