Come along to our Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). This will be happening in two weeks (08/10/22) from 6 pm - 7 pm in School of Engineering New Building, Room 127.
We will be voting in new committee members to fill the following positions:
* 1 x Events Coordinator - responsible for organising and managing events for members including speaker events, games nights and the Designathon under the direction of the Vice-Chair - Events.
* 1 x Events Inclusion and Diversity Officer - responsible for ensuring all events are accessible for members and acting as a contact point for society member concerns.
Getting involved with the society as a committee member is a fulfilling and enjoyable experience and would look very good on a CV so definitely consider running!
We will be voting in a constitutional change too, to create a second Events Coordinator role for our next AGM and to generalise the role of ‘Events Inclusion and Diversity Officer’ for all of our society activities, transferring it to an ‘Inclusion and Diversity Officer’. Also, we are voting in a constitutional change to our society objectives, adding in the sentence: ‘One of the ways in which we fulfil our objectives is by delivering outreach workshops to young people at local schools, with the delivering of these workshops being key to bringing about climate-positive change in the mindsets of future engineers.
If you are interested in running please let us know at the start of the event and be prepared to give a short speech, about 1 minute, about why you would be suited to this role.
Please come to the EGM even if you aren't interested in running for any roles as the vote won't be in line with Guild regulations unless we have a certain level of attendance (this depends on the number of society members, so the amount required at the time of writing may not be the same as the amount required on the day, however it is likely to be 20 members, so please do turn up!)
