The Government has announced a rise in tuition fees from £9,250 to £9,535 for the next academic year, the first increase since 2017. Along with this, maintenance loans will also rise by 3.1% to support with living costs. We're aware that some of you may be feeling frustrated about the increase in tuition fees and feel that the 3.1% increase in maintenance loan does not fully reflect the rising cost-of-living as a student. Therefore, we want to know your thoughts on the following:
- How do you feel about the increase in tuition fees?
- With the increasing costs of rent, food, and other essentials, do you feel that the 3.1% increase in maintenance loan is enough to support your living expenses?
- What do you think should be done to support students’ finances going forward?
We will use your feedback to represent students' needs in meetings with the University, such as rent setting, where we’ll continue to push for affordable options.
We will also use your feedback to review and develop cost-of-living initiatives to better support students.
We want to hear from you! Please share your thoughts with us by emailing Hope, Welfare and Community Officer, at h.aquilina@guild.bham.ac.uk.
Thank you,
Guild Officer Group
