Key updates regarding the Officer Bye-Election and the resignation of the Trans and Non-Binary Students' Officer.
Trans and Non-Binary Student’s Officer withdrawn from role
Due to changes in personal circumstances, Abigail Pain is unfortunately no longer able to continue in her role as Trans and Non-Binary Students’ Officer at the Guild of Students, as of the 29th November 2024.
The Guild has greatly appreciated Abi’s work during her time as an officer, from successful the Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil, progressing ongoing work within the Democratic System in partnership with the Welfare and Community Officer and being an active member of Guild Officer Group.
As a result of Abi no longer being in post, the Guild of Students will host a bye-election. Further details and notice of election are shared below.
Bye-Election Results
Voting in the 2024 University of Birmingham Guild of Students Officer Bye-Election was held between 18th November and 22nd November 2024. As Deputy Nominee for the Returning Officer, I can share that Re-Open Nominations (R.O.N) has won this election. The full results can be found here.
These results have been confirmed by the Returning Officer who is satisfied that the Guild Officer Bye-Election have been run in a free and fair manner. Any complaints and appeals have been investigated fully.
Any complaints regarding the Guild of Students Officer Bye-Election were required to be submitted no later than 2 hours after the close of voting. Following a ruling from the nominated Returning Officer, if any student wished to make an appeal, they were required to do so within 48 hours of the outcome of the complaint being communicated to them.
Officer Bye-Election
The Guild will be running a bye-election for the following roles:
Nominations will open on the 29th November 2024, 10am and close on the 2nd December 2024, 10am. Voting will open on the 4th December 2024, 10am and close on the 6th December 2024, 4pm.
