Brumski and Board Club, the largest sports club in UoB, is a social snow sports club renowned for it’s annual European ski trip with over 1000 members each year. We run all throughout the year and compete in both racing and freestyle competitions, as well as hold weekly trainings, offer lessons from beginner sessions to higher level coaching and hold some of the best and biggest socials the uni has to offer. The presidents Freya Rylatt and Phoebe Lewis are always available to provide insightful knowledge about the club, and to welcome you into one of the top and highly respected snowsports clubs in the country.
We run weekly socials on Wednesday evenings (A.K.A SPORTS NIGHT!!) organised by Scarlett Brady, where we showcase Birmingham's best outfits, as well as having our own massive house parties and many other exciting ways to consume large amounts of alcohol (or not). Check the Instagram page to find out where we will be causing havoc the coming Wednesday night to join in the fun ;)
The race training takes place at our local dry slope Ackers every Wednesday, with certain weeks coached by the Midlands Ski Club. We train on an individual or duals slalom course. Aimee Smith, our ski race captain knows all there is to know about ski racing if you have any questions.
Thomas Clarke, our Freestyle captain is on hand to cultivate a strong freestyle team presence, run trips to Tamworth snow-dome every other week for 3 hours of skiing where you can practice your tricks or have a cruise. These sessions will sell out fast so make sure you grab your spots ASAP! Thomas is also keen to increase the number of boarders in the club, through introducing and encouraging beginners to have a go, and providing opportunities for all.
For those fresh off the competitive racing circuit, there are many major events we send teams to, including the enormous BUDS Championships (Edinburgh) and BUCS indoor championships (Nationwide). All of these events encourage huge spectator participation, so insane levels of enjoyment as part of social weekends away can be had even if you're not competing. There are also national university competitions held by the Kings League on several weekends of term that everyone, regardless of ability, can come and compete in. Our trip/wellfare sec Ben Wilson is working behind the scenes to make sure these are events are some you will not forget!
Our amazing Media Sec, Siena Dattani, will be showcasing all the highlights from these events on our Instagram and TikTok so if your feeling some FOMO head there and see what your missing! There will be monthly calendars posted each month with the key dates to get in your diaries and to get your outfits sorted for Wednesdays!!
Last but not least! This club wouldn't be running without our treasurer, Daniel Sinclair, who makes sure that the club stays a float even with all that is going on in the club!
Come and find us in the Guild reception between 1 and 2pm every weekday except Wednesdays to sign up for trips, find out about socials or ask any questions you may have. Alternatively feel free to DM us on Instagram with any questions!
