Gain access to hundreds of member-exclusive ELSA Traineeships with major law firms and organisations across Europe and beyond every year. Competing with a smaller pool of applicants than in your traditional vacation schemes gives you easier access to paid traineeships. Doing work experience abroad gives your CV a competitive international edge.
ELSA Law Schools offer you the opportunity to spend up to two weeks in a different European country to study a niche legal topic and make friends from all over the world. Every Summer and Winter you can choose from dozens of different ELSA Law Schools to spice up your holidays with unique legal studies and quality parties!
Represent your peers as an ELSA Delegate at the United Nations, Council of Europe, WIPO, and many others thanks to the consultative status of ELSA with many intergovernmental organisations. Owing to the reputation and high credibility of ELSA, our members and alumni have a unique chance to become part of international decision-making.

ELSA Moot Court Competitions
ELSA is the founding organisation of the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition and the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition, some of the world's most prestigious moots. Get involved as a participant, organiser, volunteer, or spectator. In February 2022, ELSA Birmingham hosted a Regional Round of the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition, marking the first time ever that a Regional Round of the Competition was organised in the United Kingdom.
In addition to some of the ELSA International projects above, ELSA Birmingham organises a variety of local events every year. These include workshops, lectures, socials, parties, institutional visits, and more.
Get involved.
Along with numerous benefits of being an ELSA member, you can enhance your ELSA experience by getting involved as a Volunteer, Director, or member of the Local Board of ELSA Birmingham (ELSA Birmingham Committee).
Some of our members have progressed to the National Board of ELSA United Kingdom, ELSA International Team, and ELSA International Board — a group of students and young graduates who work for ELSA full-time and live in the ELSA House in Brussels.
ELSA is for all students who have an interest in Law. There are no course-specific or nationality requirements to join.
