Ideas
The Guild has only one gender neutral toilet, which is difficult to find, difficult to access, and very poorly signposted. This is a known issue; for many years now, there have been plans to convert the first-floor gendered bathroom stalls to gender-neutral stalls. These plans have been repeatedly shelved and delayed, and in the meantime, students who would benefit from gender neutral bathrooms (particularly, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people, who may feel uncomfortable using gendered bathrooms, or may fear harassment using their preferred bathroom) are being let down.
I wish for the Guild to commit to bringing further gender neutral toilets to the building, in a place that is easily accessible to students, by the 2024/25 academic year. Whether this means moving forward with plans to convert the first floor toilets to gender-neutral stalls, or introducing new single- or multi-stall gender neutral toilets elsewhere in the building (such as in the Reception area, for which there are plans to remodel anyway), it should be in an area that is accessible via lift and easily signposted to.
