Having a medic available in university halls at all times can significantly enhance student welfare, providing immediate medical assistance and advice, which is especially crucial in emergencies. Medic employed can be a recent UOB Graduate in the field so that we can encourage employment as well.

This center would integrate 24/7 medical care, mental health support, nutritional counseling, and wellness education, ensuring a holistic approach to student health. The implementation would involve a thorough needs assessment and feasibility analysis, followed by designing a welcoming and fully equipped facility. Staffing would include a multidisciplinary team of health professionals. The center should coordinate seamlessly with existing university health services and develop protocols for emergencies. A comprehensive promotional campaign would ensure all students are aware of the available services, which should be accessible to everyone, including those with disabilities. Funding would need to be secured through sustainable sources, with rigorous budget management. The effectiveness of the center would be continuously monitored, with regular feedback from users to adjust services as needed. Additionally, the center would host regular workshops and seminars on various health topics and establish peer support programs to foster a supportive community environment. By implementing such a center, the university can greatly improve the support provided to students, promoting a healthier and more supportive academic environment.
I would advocate for the Guild to commit to enhancing student well-being by emphasizing mental health and comprehensive support services across campus. This commitment would involve the formation of a dedicated Well-being Committee within the Guild, comprising student representatives, mental health professionals, and academic staff. The committee's role would be to evaluate existing health and wellness resources, identify service gaps, and develop initiatives that address these gaps. Implementing this stance would also require the Guild to facilitate regular workshops, create awareness campaigns, and collaborate with local mental health organizations to bring a more robust support system to the forefront of university life. To ensure the effectiveness and reach of these initiatives, I would like to see the Guild leverage social media platforms and university networks to engage with students actively, gather their feedback, and continuously adapt health services to meet their evolving needs.
