The prices of sandwiches, pasta salads, and similar food items across campus, most notably in the library cafe, are absurd.
If a student is not on meal plan, to expect that most of us can afford to pay upwards of £4 for some pasta or a sandwich is ridiculous. What's the point of choosing a healthy option like a salad from the library cafe when we could go get a much more filling portion of chips from the non-food fellows burger van, and spend less money?
The university is taking steps to help students with cost of living, and this is a good thing, but the price of some items at food fellows outlets are seriously out of touch, and needs to be adjusted.
If possible I would like to see these unrealistic prices brought into a more affordable bracket. even a small reduction in price could make all the difference to some students, and it would be good to see guild take a strong stance on this alongside their other cost of living support measures.
