Think Diversity is a student led society at the University of Birmingham that aims to promote the decolonisation of education. As a society, we work to increase people's knowledge of decolonisation by creating inclusive and diverse learning experiences. We aim to listen to students' views, increase their understanding of decolonisation and eliminate inequalities, and work to help make the education and experiences of students at the university more inclusive, diverse and representative.
Through our fun events, we strive to spark conversations about diversity, hear students' views and experiences, challenge outdated perspectives, and empower students to embrace multicultural viewpoints. Originally based in the School of Education, we also focus on reshaping how subjects are taught by addressing inequalities and incorporating diverse perspectives.
Our aims are as follows;
Decolonise Education: We work to ensure that teaching and learning are more representative of diverse perspectives and experiences.
Promote Inclusion: Creating a more diverse and inclusive educational environment for all students at the University of Birmingham.
Broadening Knowledge: Our events encourage students to explore multicultural viewpoints and engage in meaningful conversations about diversity.
Challenging Inequalities: Addressing inequalities within the education system and advocating for change.
Empowering Students: Providing opportunities for students to voice their experiences and ideas, and acting on those to improve their educational experience at the university
