Student Christian Movement Birmingham is a student society at the University of Birmingham affiliated to Student Christian Movement (SCM), a national network of students responding to the call of Jesus to follow him and show the love of God on campus, in our communities and in the world. We are an inclusive society, committed to God's radical love and believe that we are all affirmed by God regardless of gender, sexuality, race or ability. We aim to be a welcoming and accepting space for all to explore and cultivate a sustainable and progressive Christian faith.
Originally formed from the merging of the Anglican and Methodist societies, and previously called the Inclusive Christian Society, we welcome all Christians of any denomination as well as those who simply want to find out more about Christianity.
We meet weekly on Thursdays with the Anglican and Methodist Chaplains for a meal, discussion and worship. We often have external speakers coming to talk to us about different aspects of Christianity and their own experiences to inspire us in our faith. Everyone is welcome to join us!
We also join with the national Student Christian Movement for various events throughout the year, for example their annual National Gathering weekend away where SCM members from all over the country come together. In addition, we get involved with SCM’s Faith in Action campaigns, which for this year will focus on food poverty and peace.
