oSTEM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) at the University of Birmingham is a society dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ students studying (or with an interest in) STEM subjects!
We welcome undergraduates and postgraduates from across the University and organise a range of events throughout the year. We run LGBTQ+ speaker events throughout the year, including the annual Equal in STEM conference in collaboration with WISE and BEAMS (Wednesday 2nd April 2025), as well as helping out with the oSTEM UK annual conference: STEM, LGBTQ and You (Friday 21st February 2025). Our social events include weekly coffee socials, weekly quizzes, and watch parties, and we also have snacks and a game! In collaboration with CSS we are going to the National Museum of Computing in Bletchley (Saturday 1st March). We also have a few collabs with other societies planned, and will host different activities in socials for LGBTQ+ history month in February.
Weekly socials: Tuesdays 6-8pm, Guild of Students (mostly in Harvey Milk room but check our socials).
To access the virtual platform check out our social media where we have posted a link to the Discord Server.
