The society is a sign language and D/deaf awareness group which teaches students basic british sign language. We also run a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 course. The course spans the academic year, with evening classes taking place each week of term. Topic areas include: the alphabet, numbers, colours, the calendar, describing yourself, family and pets, food and drink, directions and many more. Students can also choose to take exams, allowing them to achieve the full Level 1 Certificate in BSL.
Come to our Taster session!
We will be running a taster session at the beginning of the semester for you to find out more and give it a go for free. Keep an eye on our socials for more information!
How does our society work?
Membership is £5 - this allows members to attend our social events, charity fundraisers, volunteering opportunities and much more.
The BSL Level 1 course price for 2024/5 is currently unconfirmed, but will likely be between £150-£250 pounds. The lessons have limited spaces and sell out fast, so be sure to keep an eye on our socials so that you know when tickets are released!
