Accessing sport and physical activity whilst at university is not only a key part of your University experience, but also crucial for physical and mental wellbeing. We know that many students are struggling financially because of the Cost of Living Crisis, so the Guild and UB Sport have introduced a Sport Access Fund to help out.

Please upload receipts for any previous purchases being claimed through the Sport Access Fund. For any future purchases, you’ll need to submit any evidence once they have been acquired.

Once the application period has closed, applications will be reviewed by the Awarding Panel. They will consider each submission against the criteria outlined below and level of funding available.

Applicants can only apply for a maximum of £100 through the Sports Access Fund, however the Panel reviewing all applications may allocate a different amount depending on the total requested. For Example, in Round 1 of the Sports Access Fund in 2023/24,  we received over 175 applications however the fund value was £10,000. This means that if all applicants were awarded the full amount, the fund would be £7,500 short. In this case, the panel made the decision to fund all applications at 20% of what was requested to ensure that everyone that applied received some funds towards their activity.

The panel reserves the right to award a set amount or percentage across all the applications, or make individual decisions based on the applications received. The panel’s decision will be communicated to you once they have reviewed all allocations and made their decision.
